Now one can get their applications and products to whole world in just one click. But the whole point now is since they are open to you, they are open to million others :). How to survive the opensocial burst.

I am not expert but this is how I am going to dive in. The first and foremost thing before thinking of the information architecture of your open social application is for which social framework the application is targeted. So, the linkedin app may not be suitable to add on orkut or the other way. The guiding principle for deciding the architecture and plan is to list down all the problems you are solving in your services. Categorize them according to social applications. Then decide the architecture for solving the same problems while publicizing yourself in the social framework. Now the application can be a single feature among the infinite ones you giving at your website. But it should be useful to people and should survive in sense that a person who has added your application should not remove it as thing are not happening. Make it lively. Refer social design best practices.

e.g., if I have a picture album feature among infinite others where people upload their pic and other people add stories to the particular picture and an album is linked with say a particular location on the map making sense. Then @ orkut I may be posting the pics as they are loaded and @ twitter I may be adding user stories for the album and on linked in I may be adding the location info showing where the man had been.

Good luck with your application. :)

Haversine implementation in PHP. Seems like a cool idea but it turns out that the definitions of problems are whole lot different in this arena. From what I've learnt, there exists basically two types of problems which can be solved online:

1. Real World Problems: In the online context, solving real world problems not at all means solving poverty or child labour problem, here we deal with solving problems that makes meaning to make life comfortable and things which makes meaning in the sense they sort of become required for day to day life. So orkut is solving real world problem of connecting to friends. But take the example of twitter. Its not required but its fun sharing what you are doing with friends.

2. Virtual World Problems: Solving these problems are sort of add ons on day to day life. Twitter has set a good example of how solving virtual world problem can become a phenomena.

Though there exists no clear way of classifying the two types of problems. e.g., twitter one day may be solving real world problem replacing orkut and orkut may be solving then the virtual world problem. Now suppose an app which tells users to update what fun they have done and send tweets to the interested users who want to know about such things, twitter wil be solving real world problem then. There may be cases when some solution is solving real world problems for some people while solving virtual world problem for others.

So thats the background you should be knowing. A month back I was having a discussion with Vineesh creating a virtual world application similar to google maps but creating a new virtual world where everything will start from scratch with a hope that 10 years later may be people are setting up their business over the app. And thats the same talk where started the loxlog (LOG your LOCationS) concept solving some real world problems using mobi alerts.

The craze now of solving problems is bubbling up from inside and out(at my app in dev :P).
to be continued...

hummmm haah

mash ups.. m loving them. Trust me, everybody thinks so. But how exactly to look for the plan.

Each day is full of lot of plans but how to decide which plan to look for and which not. Lot of plans are dropped from life just without any reason. But there do exist a definite way of figuring out the right plan for you.

Think of any plan that came to your mind and you did not work on it. There may exist several reasons but lot of reasons will surely be "I dunno". Now pick the plan and follow these steps:

1. Try to live in world with your plan for sometime. If you like it go ahead otherwise just drop it

2. Now figure out the market for your plan and start browsing to find out how such plans work in terms of clients' participation. If the plan is unique and solving problems then just go analytically to figure out the participation. It is , trust me, fun.

3. Try to figure out the revenue channel/s from your plan and hwo much you will be able to generate by considering point 2 and charging feasibility considering client psychee, market and usefulness of your service.

4. Now figure out do you want to go ahead. Is this the plan which can satisfy you for now? If yes, go ahead.

So next time you think anything, just remember to read this. I would be glad if somebody corrects or modify me here.

EDITED :(

Since I am a graduate now, lets start talking some serious stuff. The old undergraduate time was fun and I would proudly call myself a serial entrepreneur who failed in all the attempts he made. I was just figuring out the reasons why it was so. The major ones being:

1. Lack of patience

2. Lack of coming out with a good revenue model

3. Lack of investment

4. I almost coded every product I thought would be fun and could make revenue for me.

5. Lack of a good plan in mind though here I may admit that I missed the real good plans in life in which I could have afforded to settle for some years. The main reason being I was just afraid of starting the whole thing on my own.

That was it. I am working currently at "xxxxxxx" and very much satisfied with the job I am doing, so much that I could think of thinking that its good that no plan worked for me because I could have missed the opportunity of working in "xxxxxxx". The culture, challenges (and remunerations :P ) are so cool that I admit that its like my dream job of starting with a start up. (though "xxxxxxx" is far ahead of start ups but my every day is just like working for a start up here)

Although I learnt very crucial things while my stay at IIT, I am just not satisfied with days of my life there. The big things, I learnt and should be known for anyone who is starting up are taking care of following things regarding your plan

1. Market: What kind of market the plan is targeted. And most importantly, how easy is to reach that market. The strategies of reaching the market should not be the point at this time but having an idea is really good.

2. Technical feasibility: This is another important you should not miss out. You need to figure out are you capable of making the things done or you will need people for the plan. Keep a good care of people if latter is the case and hit them at the right time. All you need to know is his expectations and give him a penny more.

3. Investors' interest: You need to know what kind of investors you going to approach (in case you want to one). Keep the things done keeping this in mind. Best example is choosing php vs jsp and servlets. I hope you know what I am talking about.

4. Data Collection: The biggest part. Nobody is going to do it and you need to design strategies how to keep in contact with parties of interest and most importantly how to get in contact with them. e.g., if I am launching preparations, I need to invest my mind a lot on how to get contact of every coaching institute in India. This is the biggest challenge of the whole game and is the most important thing which makes the game adventurous.

THE DREAM BIG.... BIGGER

I must admit that I am very much a restless kind of man whose mind surprises him with the thoughts. But I really dream of dreaming something big on which I work and make it bigger than imaginations. But every day, (try it any day you meet me) there is a plan cropping in my mind which goes to my diary if at the end of the day I start looking dreams or go to bin if obstacles and feasibility is seen. So the biggest requirement is the plaNext.
Enough for today. May the spirit lives within. Aameen :P

7th of July, 2015

Well nothing particular about the day. I dunno where this all suddenly dropped into but I want to discuss that part first before I discuss our 2015.
People used to look at me and scold the bloody system which is making life so much tough for us. That was seriously unacceptable.

April 27, 2008: I forgot all those days but someone ignited it all back.

July 7, 2015:
The Class: The class bell rings. The big screen is turned on and here we continue with Newton's Second Law animations. Blah Blah happens, children download the content to their janter devices and class is over now.

The Test: The master janter is turned on. Everybody's janters' content and networking except with master is locked. And the test is passed to poor kids. They fill them with their handwriting (most of them are ugly ones, I bet). The time is over and all the tests are submitted in the next millisecond. The janters are again unlocked and the parents receive a mail of what their prides have done.

The Stages

Product Development
The first and foremost thing is have to your product. It is assumed that market research has been done, competitors have been figured out and the revenue generation module has been thought of and well surveyed.
Then comes, the phase of product planning. The rule is simple, be one step or atleast at par to your competitor. If you fail this step, you have failed in your venture.
Product Development should be as per product planning. Not this is important point. Don’t run from technical issues. Deal with every micro issue with full details.

Creating Up Front
What actually is upfront. It is not necessarily a fake series of steps you need to take or implement which involves brand building stag. Win some innovative venture of the year etc. prizes or do whatever according to your product. But building a product upfront is whole lot important than your marketing and promotion.

Marketing and promotion
You know better than me. You wouldn’t have been reading it otherwise. But my experiences say people dive into this stage very much earlier because they are impatient to see the result of their innovation. But if you have confidence in your product, go with the proper stages.

Reseller opportunities

I was just looking for domain reseller opportunities and came across several nice opportunities in resellers as general. Just wanted to blog on these.

Computer Resellers
www.inetstart.com have come with a good concept of reselling hardwares from your front end. You will obtain a reseller license after which you can contact merchants and as you get an order, you just call the merchant and they ship to your customer with your company's name. The concept has not been implemented in India but doing well in US, UK and Canada.

Domain Resellers
Buy a reseller account from any hosting company like godaddy. You need to pay an initial money and will receive commission from each domain purchase from your front end. I needed a small hosting reseller opportunity too along with the domain reseller. But what godaddy is providing is too much for the general customers, so I haven't still purchased domain reselling till now. The basic plan costs $99 per year. If they would have given small hosting reseller opportunity too, I would have definately chosen it.
Currently I am looking for reseller club. and yeah no need to mention google adwords resellers

Matheran

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_KglfOJkjv5o/RqW_gvM9xbI/AAAAAAAAANU/H51hjns1xig/s320/DSC00707.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5090685522959779250" />
No words to describe now. Good said 21st century people will never write relevant things and you would have better clicked an ad floating by some company named Google on right which could have earned me money (People usually don't like these ads. They say ads are most of the times not relevant. But I am big time google fan. Are you?). But leave, I am not here to make money but it just looks good to provide good related links to your reader. I would like to mention that I am an Indian and PM (PHEBE) says:
“Coz smoking is injurious to health, so as I wish 1 burning butt kills one day of ur life. Now calculations, 5 bucks= 1 day of ur life....so losing 1 day of ur life for just 5 makes u live a wealthy life-take the average dude. So ‘smoke coz smoking is injurious to health n cheap ...’"

Don’t worry for me I am not afraid of anybody. And I have to mention, I don’t want to but dark knight (he is same old friend) has his view too though I know it doesn’t matter what he say.

“always kills... be it passive or active... so lets smoke and kill others ... of course its better to die by killing a few than dying for a duck :P...so njoy and keep that smoke killing.”

But don’t consider his views though people say he is bit stud sort of person and inimitable too (L). Still doesn’t matter. People are “Induhviduals” sometimes.

Another says (but he is again hopeless, he is doing civil engineering)

“It helped me in increasing my water intake”

And about me, I want to just say that I am very much interested in working for any anti-smoking campaign company if given good money and preferably if it is in NY.

Smoking is cool, addictive and cigarette manufacturing is cheap. This forms the base of Tobacco Industry. A major part of investment for Tobacco Industry is for smoking campaign and promotion. Marlboro campaign is familiar and known. If you very much stand against the campaign “Making the Killing” will be inspiring. For the news:

“The tobacco industry loses close to 5,000 customers every day in the US alone-- including 3,500 who manage to quit and about 1,200 who die. The most promising "replacement smokers" are young people: 90% of smokers begin before they're 21, and 60% before they're 14! To find their new customers, every day US tobacco companies spend $11 million to advertise and promote cigarettes -- more than the US Federal Office on Smoking and Health spends to prevent smoking in an entire year” -Infact report.

Smoking is dangerous, bad and silent killer. So why not to ban it completely. This is what the campaign always fights for. Catching people, finding new market for them, educating people about after effects and conducting new researches is the campaign. Smoking promotion was a real big campaign and big names handled it very strategically and they have succeeded. Though every single individual knows how badly smoking can affect him but still it has found a good market. I don’t want to discuss that because all are familiar with Marlboro man etc. . So if you are a smoker you should better know that a campaign thing is what has dragged you.

But major youth smoke because their friends do. It’s all a company thing. 90% youth will quit smoking if they have option only to smoke alone. So if you want to quit, start smoking alone; never buy a packet and always go for every fag you going to smoke. Start eating ice creams because taste change will warn you.

I would like to end with this quotes of Einstein:

“Gravitation is not responsible for people falling in love.” which is not related by the way.

wtf

This picture has been conceptualized by an old friend of mine but he claims he still is. The picture shows an "Induhvidual" and if you don’t know what it refers to then you may be one of them (you can ask from me what it means but you can find on net also. Use wiki option on right.). Thats what Scott Adams says and I don't know why. He also says one will be surrounded by them everywhere in some time of his life. The pic shows an ass standing and gazing a circle which is actually a hole there. I want to stress that word “gazing” here has no relevance. I asked for more such circles from him but we are busy guys. Let’s call them dogs for I want to and this is my blog. Before proceeding I would like to mention few basics first:

California internship is cool.

Pukers are losers.

Losers are better than dumbs and dogs.

Holding my neck is biggest crime and especially if people get to know about it.(proved on dogs)

iPhone is a wow product. Please don’t laugh “my rocket partners”. Wow is good word to use except when you use in business mails.

Reebok is good brand to wear.

Don’t ever eat above your limits. Induhviduals get happy very easily so parties can be thrown anytime.

Induhviduals gradually starts losing friends for their intercourse buddies.

Induhviduals prefer pie language. Native ones have more strength they always say that.

Now I don't want to proceed so bye for now.

Mind you own business? So starts the biddings as soon as looking factor is out. The world is getting flatter my dear and so you should realize it fast.

What’s the future btw? The pie will be wired and a single bit would be reshaping it. Every development does not augur well. And things here are never stopping and really no time to look back and think. No body wants to have his lexicon redefined. So is the outcome going to be Americanization? Lives are grappled between advancing and happiness and none has defined any to their reference frame.

Explanandum –developing outcome of some historical process – is progressively transformed into the explanans: changing character of the pie. Dr. money explained the phenomenon when even pie theory was doing great. And here it is

" Globalisation results in the exploitation of millions of workers in countries that do not give workers rights to organise. For example, a woman who sows a $200 Liz Claiborne jacket sown in El Salvador is paid just 74 cents – less than half of one per cent. In the US, the labour cost to sew a garment is typically 10 per cent of the retail price.

Workers in poor countries may have to work 12 hours a day, seven days a week with few protections for health and safety. In some countries, globalisation leads the exploitation of child, and prison labour."

For the record I am globalization supporter but imperialism and corporatism, please find a way here.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://sickandroid.blogspot.com/2007/03/mind-you-own-business-so-you-are-nuts_07.html' title='Mind you own business? So there are the basic problems and questions arising in the mind. Patriotic and money does not matter? Well dude, there are more challenges you going to face.

Just going through an article in FRONTLINE I was really impressed by the strategies which actually exists in major of government projects and the main factor underlying all the survey reports and conclusions comes to India is a developing country. The principles and approaches should agree with the poor mass and the fact that India is a developing country, hence, growth. So are these two factors ways in two separate lanes?

As said India is diverse country is very true in respect when we consider wealth factor and standard of living in the mass. India is trying very hard to come up in global market but for a perfect development it definitely needs some sacrifices. The question then arises is what exactly you define as developing country. Well here is a definition I found best as far I have learnt now

“A country whose per capita income is low by world standards. Same as LDC. As usually used, it does not necessarily connote that the country's income is rising.”

Some say “developing” is euphemism for “poor”. For a layman, developing country is a country that is in way of making a good industrial and commercial base and a country that is poor and whose citizens are mostly agricultural workers but that wants to become more advanced socially and economically. So what exactly is problem for a developing country or specifically India? We need to derive out a relation between growth and a fight for poverty.

I am not at all interested in figures here but one thing is for sure that agriculture has contributed a lot in India’s growth. Part of adverse Indian experiences are accounted by investments in large, long gestating, capital intensive projects such as electric power, irrigation and infrastructure. But the point is these all are quite necessary. Actually delayed completions, under use of capacity and cost overrun were major contributing factors.

There has been a distinction created by most officials and economists namely formal and informal sectors of economies. The first one constitutes mainly rural and urban sectors and latter one is focused by modern sector. Farmers and rural sectors constitute mainly major percentage of people below poverty line. So does this mean targeting these people will help erase poverty and the other side government can focus on growth too? The answer is very much complicated and is based on growth versus inflation.

You must be wondering what all crap I am talking about when I started on point of some new policy or project. The basic point here was inclusion of a model when devising any strategy for a new project or policy. The benefit should be accrued to poor as well as economy of country. In this context what Mahatma Gandhi said should guide policy: “The acid test of right action is to bring into your imagination the poorest man you have ever seen and decide if your policy is going to benefit him.” But today’s scenario of India requires forcing a model in every policy/project which should include following points:

1) How well the policy will help the poor?

In economic terms what measures should be adopted in this new model which can increase not just per capita income as whole but per capita income of people who lie below poverty line. Best model should be one which maximizes increase of per capita income of people having lowest per capita income. A statistical model is required to rate every model which emphasize on points based on x times rating for increase in per capita income multiplied by y times rating for the expectation value for present per capita of people it is aiming at.

2) How well it affects the growth of nation as a whole?

Well no need to discuss this factor. But there actually needs some revisions in policies which actually involve emphasis on this factor rather than individuals gains.

In the current models the first factor is generally stifled and considered only at time of elections or to gain appreciation but it should be stressed here that it is statutory. Fight for us right now is not to go developed but to eliminate poverty to the extent of developed countries. Any delay in consideration of factors will become more expensive and more difficult to work on and will be very much desired. Remember the rule of thumb that any fail in any economic factor causes poor to suffer most.
